The Appraisal
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
You are a court-appointed appraiser. A condemned wooden mansion on the Bosphorus is scheduled for demolition on the twelfth. You have five nights to inventory it.
Walk the rooms with a 1990s instant camera. Photograph everything of value: the camera writes the ledger. Each night the radio in the hall gives you a wing of the house. Each night your ledger from the night before no longer matches the house. Something moved. Something is missing. Something is listed that you never photographed.
Confirm what is still there. Amend what moved. Strike what is gone. On the fifth night, file the report. Whatever is in it when you file it is what the court demolishes.
- Five nights, about two hours.
- No combat, no inventory, no batteries. Walk, look, photograph, write.
- PS1 look: 384x216, vertex snapping, affine textures, dithering, film grain.
- One entity, the Unlisted. It appears in photographs before it appears in the house.
- Four endings, decided by what you report, omit or take home.
- Jump scares: yes. Headphones recommended.
Controls: WASD walk, mouse look, right mouse raise the camera, left mouse photograph, E use, Tab ledger, 1/2/3 confirm/amend/strike a line, C crouch, F torch, Esc pause.
Made with Godot 4.7. The clerk's voice was generated with ElevenLabs. PSX look: tk_psx and tk_look by dragthelake (MIT). Ledger font: Special Elite (Apache 2.0).
